2013 Pacific Northwest Rendezvous

Thanks to Peter Jacobs, Chairman of the Event Committee for the following and to Phill Lowe for the reminder.

The 2013 Pacific Northwest Rendezvous will be held Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th September 2013 at Lopez Island Resort in Fisherman Bay, Lopez Island, San Juan Islands Group, Washington State, USA. (48°30.774'N, 122°54.894'W)

Space is being held for 10 boats, but I was advised that more would not be a problem. Registration is up to each person and can be done by phone (800.736.3434). For more information please visit the Resort website at http://www.lopezfun.com/marina.htm

Moorage fees show on this page are for the winter season. Summer rates (until the end of October) are: up to 30' $43.95 per night up to 40' $53.95 per night This includes power and water.

For those who haven't attended a PNW Rendezvous before, they are a totally informal affair with no planned events and no schedule. In the past the first evening's meal has been at a local restaurant and the next evening a potluck supper is held around the boats at the dock. In between times there is dinghy sailing, Kayaking, and of course a lot of boat "noodling". The Resort has a nice swimming pool, and there is a village about a 20 minute walk down the road.

For those who want to take in other events in the area here's a rundown of some of what's going on: - Victoria Classic Boat Festival, Aug. 30 - Sept.1 - Deer Harbor Wooden Boat Festival, Sept. 3 & 4 - Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival,Sept. 7-9

Please contact me if you plan to attend and have any questions. Peter.

The American Vega Association is a loosely organized group of owners and enthusiasts of the Per Brohall designed Albin Vega 27 sloop. Our purpose is to provide a central resource for information and assistance in the enjoyment and maintenance of these fine sailboats, to keep Vega owners and enthusiasts worldwide informed of events and gatherings of interest, to assist in organizing and promoting Vega fleet Rendezvous and to share information on maintaining, modifying, sailing and living aboard the Vega. There are photo essays of notable Vegas, accounts of voyages and adventures plus announcements and complete coverage of events like the Pacific Northwest VEGAtarian Rendezvous and the International Friendship Regattas and links to sites of interest.  WE think the Vega 27 is one of the finest small cruisers ever built but you don't have to take our word for it.  Take a look at this independent evaluation.

Membership in the American Vega Association is open to anyone. You need not own a Vega to join or to take part in club activities. To become a member all you need do is sign up. Completing the sign up form helps us keep track of boats as they change hands and move around the world.  Benefits to membership include access to the MemberShip pages including the newsletter archive and the Vega Owners Repair and Maintenance Manual, compiled by the members for more than thirty years and continually updated with new material, available in printer-friendly .pdf format.

At this time, membership fees have been waived. Expenses are being covered by volunary contributions and income from sales in the Ship's Store.

All in all, the American Vega Association is a valuable resource for any owner or aspiring owner of a Vega or any small fiberglass cruising sailboat. We hope you’ll join us. If you have any questions email us at:

Two new member web sites to check out: Peter Jacobs' www.sintascha.com is "Mostly About Boats".  Chuck and Laura Rose are expanding and moving their Cruising Pages to a new site at http://cruisinglealea.com featuring videos and articles about full time living aboard and "Cruising Lealea"

Feel free to look around the site and check back often as we will be adding new content regularly. Oh, and, while you're here, watch out for the Viking Kittens, especially when they haven't had their mead and mutton.
